Like most artists my upbringing influenced my style, which for me I’m proud to be of Mexican descent and from long line of farmers, homesteaders, and artisans. Spending many summers in my grandmas ranch in Jalisco, eating home grown and made tortillas from a clay wood fired stove, just hits different. Making friends with chickens, goats and horses and go back to the house with my boots full of river water and clothes stained with traces of my whereabouts, filled lil Naz with so much joy… and still does!

Though I was born and raised in Southern California, my family in their unique way turned our childhood home into a lil oasis of our culture. With my dads intricate stone cutting figure mosaics on the walls and outdoor oven of donkeys and agaves, bamboo gazebo trellises for chayotes and passion fruit growing, and my moms traditional cooking, a blessing to say the least. As I grew, my connection to the earth and appreciation for quality food deepened, expressing this love thru art and holistic health treating food as medicine.

As you can see I do a little bit of everything, hence “Mercadita” which means little market ( “Del Sol” is a reference to my families ranch in Mexico ), and it’s my hope that my art can fill your home with warmth or recipes fuel your mind body and soul.
